Dear Friends of Hedrick’s Grove Church,
I always think that after Christmas things won’t be so busy yet it always is. In the life of the church there are so many things that have to be done the first of the year to make sure that the year starts off well. We have a meeting to plan activities and to map our the calendar so that everything fits into place. Then it seems like we have had so many things going on with the youth fellowship. My favorite thing this year was snow tubing up at Hawk’s Nest. We had so much fun and I enjoyed careening down a snowy mountain on a tube.
What I have found that it is during the planning and the activities themselves that I really get to know people well. Church is about many things, too often I think that we forget about some of these things, like getting to know one another. What makes a church great is a welcoming fun church. That doesn’t mean that we are not serious about things. There are many parts of church life that are very serious including worship yet we need to have a little fun while we are doing our work around the church.
Many of us have a lot of responsibilities around the church that we must do, yet we must do these things joyfully. I think we have to make sure that they are not like a chore to us but something that we want and love to do. If we labor together the burden is lite, so we must share and joyfully serve the Lord.
With warmest Regards and Christian Love,
The Reverend William M. Sowers
